“The Rural Commando is still talking about it and says this is where tourists should be directed to from Dublin airport, not Temple Bar. This is where you will meet the real Dublin folks and hear the real Dublin accents and stories…and the black stuff was pure cream.” – Pub Spy, Sunday World, 2024.

A Legacy of Dublin's Spirit

A Legacy of Dublin's Spirit

The Halfway House stands as the area’s oldest public house. Originally serving as a coach house, it was strategically positioned halfway between Dublin and Tallaght, making it a favoured stop for travellers. In May 1921, during the tumultuous times of the Irish War of Independence, the pub was targeted and burned down by British forces. The act of reprisal is a poignant chapter in its storied past, reflecting the pub’s deep connection to Ireland’s history.
